Demolition Tips for Huntington, NY
What are the requirements for obtaining a demolition permit in the city of Huntington?
The city of Huntington requires that you provide some information on your demolition job in order to be approved for a permit. Your application should include the following information:
- The full name and address of the owner(s), applicant, and person and/or company doing the work
- The current Suffolk County Tax Map number, street address, and description of the property
- Proof that the applicant has obtained all necessary permits from the Department of Engineering Services and complied with all conditions as set forth by the Director of Engineering Services.
- This information should also be accompanied by your application fee.
The cost to obtain a demolition permit in Huntington depends on the total cost of the work and the application fee associated with your specific job. This fee includes payment of an initial minimum fee, in addition to the estimated cost of the work, as follows (as of August 2021):
- Residential demolition minimum fee: $100
- Non-residential demolition minimum fee: $500
- All minimum fees are accompanied by a mandatory $7 fee for every $1,000 spent on construction costs
